Common Sand Dollar

Range: Northwest Atlantic and North Pacific- north of New Jersey in the Atlantic, and along Alaska, Siberia, British Columbia, and Japan in the Pacific

Unlike most urchins, the common sand dollar can often be found living buried in sandy mudflats. These species are primarily scavengers and detritivores, eating small bits of organic matter, or detritus, found in the sediments around them.
